The human resources mantra to managers and supervisors is to “document, document, document.” But do your managers and supervisors know how, when, and what to document?  This session will provide managers and supervisors with the skills to effectively document employee performance.  Participants will learn a simple performance documentation process and understand its importance in preventing legal claims.  Using proven techniques, participants will practice writing and maintaining job-related performance documentation.  The seminar will focus on how the current legal climate affects supervision, as well as the “how-to’s” of documenting employee actions.

Outline:
• Why documentation helps prevent legal claims
• How to document behaviors, not people
• What to include in all documentation
• Practice documentation skills

Designed for: Human resources staff, supervisors, and managers who need to learn practical, defensible documentation techniques.  This training is appropriate for the supervisor/manager who is involved in progressive discipline, coaching and counseling, employee separations, and managing employee performance. This course is being facilitated by Mountain States Employers Council.
