Question:  Is there a law in Arizona that allows me to cancel a purchase if I change my mind?

Answer:  When a sale of goods or services worth $25 or more takes place in a buyer's home, the buyer has 72-hours to cancel the sale and get a full refund under the FTC’s cooling off rule.  The cooling off period also applies if the consumer buys at a location other than the seller's permanent place of business, in the workplace, at a dormitory, or at places rented by the seller for a short term such as hotel or convention center.  Keep in mind the sales person is required to tell you about your cancellation rights at the time of the sale and give you two copies of the cancellation form:  one to send and one to keep.

There are exceptions to the cooling off rule including sales under $25, sales made entirely by telephone or mail, sales needed in emergencies, or sales that are included in a request for maintenance or repairs on personal property.  The 3-day cooling off rule does not apply to the sale of real estate, stocks and bonds, securities, insurance, motor vehicles sold at temporary locations, or arts and crafts sold at fairs or malls.
